This year's event features a pop-up gallery with several independent up-and-coming visual artists, fashion designers, and wave-making musicians. Local musical performances and artisan booths will line the district for a weekend of celebrating San Diego’s emerging and fresh talent. Come hear Brazilian jazz and more from local musicians while sampling the best mobile cuisine in San Diego. FRESH Artist debuting this year include sea glass sculptor Sandy Fisher, The Tinker Swymm Band, and environmental artist Mac Errol. Teams from around the world will compete in underwater missions using underwater robots that they designed and built themselves. MATE's remotely operated vehicles (ROV) competition combines ROVs with computer programs to teach technical, engineering, scientific and critical thinking skills needed in the marine technological fields today. MATE's competition helps students identify careers highlighting their skills, addressing the need for qualified engineers and technical professionals. Students compete to apply the ROV technology to solve challenges facing scientists and engineers working in extreme ocean environments.Unleashed by Petco Surf Dog Competition Date: July 4 Time: 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM Venue: Next to the Imperial Beach Pier, CA It's time for the biggest splash event of the year! At the Unleashed by Petco Surf Dog Competition, dogs jump on their boards and chase the perfect wave! The whole family will have a good time cheering for the fearless surfers in the annual Surf Dog Competition. Enter your dog in the competition or just come take in all the fun under the sun! Plenty of prizes and categories for all size, four-legged friends. Spectators are FREE, with a $5.00 registration fee for competitors. Unleashed by Petco Surf Dog Competition, previously The Loews Coronado Bay Resort surf dog competition is held yearly in Imperial Beach, California. Starting the process is a tour of the local organic farms. Brenda has always had the highest standards for ingredients for topping her fresh fish tacos! The Poseidon Fish Company is the top pick to fillet and pack the freshly caught halibut, tilapia, and cod for the Reel Deal Taco, taco truck. Our culinary magician, Maya, will oversee the daily selection of fresh picks once Brenda has chosen all the producers. What would we do without Maya!?! Once the best vegetables for the season are determined, based on water availability, projected heat index, and customer demand, Brenda will combine the freshest and best tasting organic vegetables, herbs, and garnishes available.
